juicy / fleshy tannins / abundant flavour
NOSE Plum and mulberry with hints dark chocolate.
PALATE Juicy plum and red berries flavours lead to notes of chocolate and liquorice with fine-grained tannins and a lingering finish.
WINEMAKING Harvested in the morning, the grapes were picked at optimal ripeness, crushed into stainless steel fermenters for malolactic fermentation. The wine was matured with French Oak for 16 months. It was fined and filtered before being bottled.
FOOD PAIRING Homemade Pizza or Spaghetti Bolognaise.
VINTAGE NOTES A late, wet and cold winter saw higher ground water reserves, followed by a late and truncated spring. Summer was mild with perfect conditions during flowering setting up higher yield expectations. Rain in early February and late March provided challenges but good ripening conditions thereafter finished off what turned out to be an exceptional vintage. The late vintage provided good colour extraction and fully developed flavours at lower alcohol levels.
